“Actually, my first one [tattoo] is a lotus flower because there’s a saying in Buddhism “a lotus flower rises in water, lives in water, and still stays pure and clean.” I kind of wanted to put that there to remind myself. Because Hong Kong is really…this is not my home and I found that when I came here, I became really materialistic because everyone here has that kind of mindset. And it’s just to remind myself to stay true to myself and not follow what everyone else does. Because it’s really hard when you’re in Law to not follow that certain path.
This is my second one, and I got it the day David Bowie died because he helped me – stopped me from cutting myself. So, I got it here on my wrist, which is very symbolic.
And this one, I just got on Monday. It’s German — “Es muss sein.” It’s from a book I really like by Milan Kundera. It means “it must be” so it tells me to let things go. Whatever happens — just let it happen.”
